It's SUN-DAY and a great day to Parade for clean energy and then a bike outing along the RT 5 Bike Corridor and Thetford's back roads. Join the Upper Valley E-Bike Initiative an affiliate of the Bike/Walk/Alliance of NH (BWANH) and the Vermont Sierra Club on a casual bike ride from Norwich, VT, along the Connecticut River Corridor and beyond following the Upper Valley Sunday Event. SunDay is a global day of action on September 21st, 2025, celebrating the unstoppable rise of clean energy. We’ll come together to showcase the power of the sun and wind, the energy sources that can power our world without pollution. A great day to Parade for clean energy and then a bike outing along the RT 5 Bike Corridor and Thetford's back roads. When: Sept 21, 2025, at 10:30 am Where: Ledyard Bridge - from Hanover, NH to Norwich, VT Parade Time: 10:30 am Bike Time: Regather at 12:00 noon to depart Norwich at 12:15 pm Details : We will first meet at 10:30 a.m. at the Ledyard Bridge to meet with Sustainable Hanover and the town Energy Committees of Lyme, Thetford and Norwich, as they march over the bridge from Hanover to the Norwich Green. At the Norwich Green, there will be a range of energy activities and demos of solar and electric technologies with many local partners, and TheBox food truck will be at the green. We plan to regroup at 12noon and depart for our ride at 12:15. Remember to register here for the bike ride as we require signing of the liability waiver. This route has pretty views of the Connecticut River. The Sierra Club has been working with community leaders to designate the length of US Route 5 in Vermont as a dedicated bike corridor, so come join us on this scenic stretch of road and beyond, as we hope to develop a dedicated bike corridor. We will be traveling on dirt roads so it's not good for thin bike tires. We welcome those with E-bikes and regular bikes to join us! Note, the Vermont Sierra Club has a few E-bikes available for loan. Please email robb.kidd@sierraclub.org if you would like to reserve one. |
