Join the Vermont Sierra Club, Upper Valley E-Bike Initiative, and Fluidly Moving Body in conjunction with Mind, Heart, Muscle on a casual bike ride from Norwich, VT to Thetford along U.S. Route 5.

We will start in Norwich and bike to the Cedar Circle Farms and Education Center in Thetford. (See the route on this link). There is a cafe at the farm so we'll allow a rest time beverage and snack. We will return to Norwich and stop at the Norwich Farmer's Market. We are requesting people arrive at 8:30 as we plan on the ride leaving at 9:00am.

This route has pretty views of the Connecticut River and is not overly hilly. The Sierra Club has been working with community leaders to designate the length of US Route 5 in Vermont as a dedicated bike corridor, so come join us on this scenic stretch of road we hope to develop a dedicated bike corridor.

We welcome those with E-bikes to join us.

WHAT PEOPLE
IN THE UPPER VALLEY
SAY ABOUT E-BIKES

HILL ERASER

Borrowed the step through. Plenty of power to make it up hills easily.

CLOSE THE ABILITY GAP BETWEEN RIDERS

I loved it. Took it for a ride with a friend who rides regularly and it closed the gap on our ability level so we could ride together and enjoy each other’s company!

HANDS ON EXPERIENCE

Great to get to experience the bike.

It was such a great program! I've been thinking about whether I want to buy an ebike and being able to try one out before spending a lot of money was very helpful.

CUSTOMIZE YOUR ASSIST

Loved it. Was fun to play around and figure out the best combinations of gear and electric assist (or not) for various terrain. Like the idea that this could get a rider out on roads they may have avoided before and that as a rider gets in better shape they can dial back on assist.

EXPAND COMMUTING RANGE

Great. Made it much easier to expand my bike commuting range a bit.

CUT COMMUTE TIME

It was very informative as it was the first experience with e-bikes for both my wife and me, even though we are both experienced bicyclists. In particular, we were impressed with the ability of the e-bike to cut our commute times (almost) in half while enabling to reach our destinations without the usual symptoms of sweat and windedness!
